1996 Mercury Sable Idiot lights

Door ajar light comes on for a few days, then shuts off. O/D off light will work, then not (overdrive solenoid needs to be replaced, so we keep it out of O/D and under 3,000 rpm until we can fix tranny). Battery light will come on, and stay on, dome light will not shut off and now door ajar light always on. Friend said it might be dirty voltage from alternator, but worried it might be something more.

Try this cure, buy a can of brakekleen and a can of spray white lithium grease, spray the latch area, thats the claw in the door where it closes, spray liberally with brakleen, open and close the door 5-6 times, repeat, then spray with the white lube, open and close the door 5-6 times. Reapeat on all doors.
Have the alternator checked, if you have a voltmeter, attach it to the battery posts, take reading with car off, 12 volts? Now start it, 13.8-14.8 volts?
