1992 Just wont start catch? i know it something simple??

i have a 1992 mercury sable GS, with a 3.8 engine with 60,000 miles on it
it is automatic trans.

it has a new battery & all of a sudden it stop running one day it with turn over but just wont start?

ive heard it could be the coil , or the box ? i dont know

first before you start checking out those i would like you to check for spark, bright blue well defined and also check for fuel at the fuel rail. and any blown fuses?
