Mercury Mystique Repair Question

1996 Mercury Mystique 100K. Recently the lights on the dash started flashing when I would try to start it and the door locks would lock and unlock on their own but the car wouldn't crank. I took the battery cables loose and let it set for a bit and reconnected. The car started fine. This happened a couple times but now it won't start at all. The lights in the panel just flash and the door locks. Is the car possessed or is this a problem I can fix?

Hey gk,
Does this problem happen when the car sits for a while, if so something may be "draining" the battery. dome light left on, trunk light or glove box. I also recommend a good charge be put on the battery and then a battery/charging system test (free at most parts suppliers) hope this helps!!
