Fuel pump replacement

Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove rear seat cushion. Remove rubber grommet from floor pan. Clean area to prevent contamination in fuel tank. For vehicles without returnless fuel systems, go to next step. For vehicles with returnless fuel systems, go to step 3.
NOTE:Fuel feed line connectors are White or are identified by a White band. Fuel return line connectors are Red or are identified by a Red band.

Returnable Fuel System
Disconnect fuel pump module connector. Disconnect fuel feed and return lines from fuel pump module by squeezing tabs on fuel lines together and carefully pulling fuel lines from fuel pump module. Using Fuel Tank Sender Wrench (D84P-9275-A), turn retainer ring counterclockwise and remove retainer ring. Remove fuel pump module. Cover fuel tank opening. Remove and discard "O" ring.
Returnless Fuel System

Disconnect fuel feed line from fuel pump module by squeezing tabs on fuel line together and carefully pulling fuel line from fuel pump module. Using Fuel Tank Sender Wrench (310-065A), turn retainer ring counterclockwise and remove retainer ring. Remove fuel pump module. Cover fuel tank opening. Remove and discard "O" ring.
Installation

Did you disconnect battery before making the repair? Check fuses, can you hear fuel pump buzz for few seconds when you first turn key without cranking?

Test out the fuel pump relay, it is in left front corner of engine compartment, in battery junction box.

Check and test the fuel pump fuse, inertia switch and the fuel pump relay

May want to double check wiring to pump then to ensure you didnt' damage or knock loose when was making repair to speedo. If its good then could be coincedence that fuel pump went out. Can remove and test pump before replacing to make sure it is bad.

If both fuse 9 and 14 are okay-its either the computer controlled of the relay is defective or open and also the violet and orange wire is open to the inertia switch

Not sure if auto part store tests fuel pumps, any local shop could do it though.

The computer control of the relay energizes the coil side of the relay this don't happen-no power to the fuel pump

By replacing the computer if the wire to it is good
