1996 Mercury Mystique wont shift out of park

My daughters car has a shift lever on floor the button on shifter does not always push in to shift out of park seems to work if warm. Was told it could be switch or solenoid on brake lever(rod) is this true. Thanks Tim

Get the shift interlock control system check-could be the brake switch or interlock shift control solenoid
