Brake Light Wiring

I have a 97 Mercury Grand Marquis and am trying to put a brakelight/backup light flashing unit (for EMS service). Which wire is the brakelight wire as there are 3 wires that connect to the assembly.

thanks

one wire would go to the brake ligts, the second would go to the back up lights and the third would go to the power source.

Actually the back up light wiring is completely separate. The tail light/ turn signal/ brake light assembly has 3 wires plus the ground that go into the assembly.

I guess i'll just have to turn them each on individually and test the wire for current.

Are you talking about installing Wig Wag lights like the cops?
If so ya need more than a flashser! You need a solinoid set....
