2001 Mercury Marquis heater core leaks

Heater problem
2001 Mercury Marquis V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 12800 miles

my heater core is leaking, I know this generally means replacement. i am a fairly handy guy but all corners say this is a huge time consuming and or expensive job. With my current economic situation i lack the funds or expertise to replace, is there a reasonably sure way to stop the leak and still have heat? i have bypassed the core for now brrr...

The heater core is essentialy just a mini version of the radiator. You can pour some radiator stop leak treatment into the radiator and run it through the system. If that doesn't seal the leak temporarily in the heater core than unfortunately it is either bypassing it or replacing it.
