1999 Mercury Marquis Brake Squeal
Brakes problem
1999 Mercury Marquis V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 163556 miles
We recently did a brake job on this vehicle. We used Motorcraft pads front and rear, resurfaced the front rotors and replaced the rear rotors with Motorcraft rotors. We used caliper grease on the caliper slides and anti-squeal sprayed onto the backs of the pads when they were installed into the calipers. We are still getting a squeak when braking. Do you have any suggestions of what to do next?

Resurfaced the rotors? Not many shops do this anymore. What type of pads did you use? I recommend ceramics, they last longer and are designed for quiter operation. Next, don't use the spray anti squeal, use anti-sieze compound(silver paste) on the back of the pads. Did your new pads come with the shims in place on the back of the pads? New disc hardware kits?
