1974 Mercury Comet electrial system is dead
Electrical problem

bought new battery ,system is dead, sometimes light come on then no power

check the ground running from the battery to the engine. Also check the back of the engine, there is a body ground that runs from the firewall to the back of the engine. A loose or corroded ground will cause to have speratic power but when trying to start the car the current draw is limited.
