I am getting a rattling in my car. It happens intermittently at any time. Accelerating, coming to a stop, while I'm at a stop. But, not all of the time. I accidentally put Regular gas  (should be Premium Only). But I think I noticed the rattling before that (which is what made me put the gas in the car  ; usually my hubbie gases up the car). I think I only put about 1/4 - 1/2 tank of gas. My husband has since put 1/2 tank of Premium. The rattling sounds like something's rolling around in the muffler.

If it's the catalytic converter, is that expensive? What else can it be besides the catalytic converter? What causes the Catalytic converter to go bad? :

This is definately a failed catalytic converter. These are very common for failure. These are also very expenxive and usually run $1200+ for parts as the inside of your cat contains platinum. They will probably charge an hour labor to replace.
