Car dont, t want to start

I have a 87 420 sel with 241, ooo miles. At first it started cutting off on me when I was driving.I dont know if its lack of power. At first I will start the car and it will turn off immediately. So I started driving with my foot on both the gas and the brakes, so it will not shutoff. For a while it was doing it. Eventually now it will not start no more.I checked the fuel pump with the ignition key on to see if there is power but there was no power. It si also caburator operated. Do you think any of my problem is related.

It could be the fuel pump not working correctly or the carburator it's malfunction too, or it's getting too much air
