As I was driving in the rain last wk, the stopping place for my wipers gradually crept up from thier usual tuck away under the hood to straight up. I consulted The dealer who told me that the stopping device was part of the wiper moter, and that replcement of that would be about $450.00 including labor.

Since I have reason to misstrust this dealer, I always double check with others, in this case to be sure there is not some inexpensive way to correct this problem, since the wiper moter and alll wiper functions, except stopping place, operate correctly including the rain sensitive part.

I have post poned having repairs performed, and in the mean time, wipers are gradually working their stopping place back to normal. They now stop at about a 30 degree angle. This does not sound like an electrical problem, but rather a mechanical one to me. What do you think and what are my options. New moter or some kind of adjustment, or wait and hope they go back completely.

Thank you, Bruzz Jory

The dealer is telling you the truth. The stop postion is mechanically part of the motor assembly. When failure occurs the motor will "float" the wipers. Think of the stop position as a retainer that isn't always holding it's position on the motor wheel. This creeping you are seeing may get better and may get worse depending on if the retaining mechanism is broken or just not holding all the time.
