2000 Mercedes Benz ML430 ML430 Starting (not) Issue
Electrical problem
2000 Mercedes Benz ML430 V8 All Wheel Drive Automatic 150000 miles
When turn the key to start all the lights on dash come on, harzard lights flash once, door locks open and what sounds like a small clank from under hood happens. When reset and try again only the display lights come on. It will shift into gears but very stiff. Battery is essentially new and does not appear to be issue. Thoughts? Many thanks. (This is a first time for this problem - car was working without issue for quite awhile prior to)

As odd as this sounds, try lubricating the starter ring gear. I have had the same issue and when I was told of the fix, I didn't believe it, until it worked! A bit of anti-seize will do the trick.
