Brake lights

Electrical problem
1999 Mercedes Benz ML430 V8 All Wheel Drive Automatic 120000 miles

2 out the the three brake lights do no work, only the 3rd (center) light works. I have checked the bulbs and fuses and found no problem????
Can you help? Is it a wiring problem or what?
Thanks,

If the brake light switch is faulty (your answer) why does the center brake light work fine?

because the high mount stop lamp runs on a separate circuit. it is ran through a relay, the main brake lamps run through the switch.....
