1999 Mercedes Benz ML430 AC not cooling at all
Air Conditioning problem
1999 Mercedes Benz ML430 V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 120000 miles
Hi. 1 day I took my car to a Mercedes Benz dealer to get a simple oil change. I got the car back and was driving it home and I noticed that the AC was losing its cool little by little and in about 20 minutes, it was out and only blowing HOT air. I took the car back and they said they didn't do anything to the AC areas at all but they offered to fix it for over a $1000. I asked them what exactly was wrong, they said needs a new AC. That shop is KNOWN to rip people off and do unnecessary repair. Is it possible that it's just a coolant? How much will it cost to see if there is a leak? and refill the whole thing?
thank you

Wow this sounds like a rip off. You bring your car in and now the ac doesn't work and they want to replace.... the AC? This is crazy. They should be able to tell you the component that needs to be replaced like a condensor or compressor. Unfortunatly since the AC doesn't work you will need to bring it somewhere dependable. If the place you went to was a Mercedes Benz new car dealership then I would call Mercedes Benz USA and voice your opinion about what happened at this dealer. MB wants to keep you as a customer, especially now, you may be suprised by their response. If it was an independent you are pretty stuck. A good repair shop is often times hard to find.
