2003 Mercedes Benz E500 Back AC Blowing Hot Air

2003 Mercedes Benz E500 V8 Automatic 95000 miles
My question to you is when I blow my AC at initial start the AC blows cold in front and back seat, after a few minutes to an hour the back will blow nothing but hot air. Could you tell me why that is? During the heat of the day my arm console gets really hot.
