Electrical problem
1999 Mercedes Benz E430 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

i just bought a 99 e430, the previous owner replaced the starter and crank sensor. the car still dosent start like it should. i know that all you have to do is click key and a mechanism takes over to continue cranking the vehicle till it starts. WHAT IS THIS MECHANISM??????? please help me
