1996 Mercedes Benz C280 Repair Question

Throttle control actuator
Computer problem
1996 Mercedes Benz C280 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 150000 miles
The car runs great but dies frequently due to low idle. New part is $1,500 and car is old. Can I disable the throttle control actuator or is there another way to circumvent this control? Perhaps there is a simple way to block the linkage from returning all the way down (like the old idle screw days).
Thanks, Brian
