1996 Mercedes Benz C280 Repair Question

Ignition/steering column locked
Transmission problem
1996 Mercedes Benz C280 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 55000 miles
I drove my car, got out, parked, and 10 minutes later could not get my key to turn. The key will not turn and the steering column is locked. I have tried jiggling the steering wheel, locking and unlocking the doors from both outside and in to no avail. Do you have any advice?
