2001 Mercedes Benz C200 ESP malfunction, strange sound when

2001 Mercedes Benz C200 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 45000 miles
Hi, I own a MBz C200K recently a malfunctioned indicator ESP pop up intermittently when it light up the steering feels harder than normal & when I turn right side there is a strnage sound knoc knoc knoc under the seat in right hand side ? it is a common problem for C200K series ? When discover I send to a garage for checkup they advise it was the ESP controller problem and replace it but few days later it pop up again, could you tell me why ? how to fix it ?
