2002 Mercedes Benz 430e EC light on compressor not running
Air Conditioning problem
2002 Mercedes Benz 430e V8 All Wheel Drive 85000 miles
I took my mercedes in for service at Fletchers. They checked the system for leaks and told me that it was fully serviced and there were no leaks, however they werent capable of reading the computer and could not troubleshoot the EC light. I took it to the Dealer and they troubleshot it down to the AC control panel not turning on the compressor. All other functions appear to be working Heat, fans etc. except cold air flow. My question is can I repair the control panel and if I replace it with another one does it require any special programming to operate in my vehicle. I want to perform this without taking it to the dealer if possible
IF programming is required can you please include programming instructions with your answer

Unfortunately this is a control unit that must be coded at the dealer to work properly. When the unit is installed it is accessed using the STAR diagnostic system, only available to dealers, this is manufacturer specific computer they hook the car up to. Without this you have no access to the coding options in this control unit. MB is really particular about who can install these units and makes it nearly impossible for anyone other than the dealer to do it.
