1999 Mercedes Benz 420sl Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror / Dr

1999 Mercedes Benz 420sl V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 140000 miles
During a routine car washing, water infiltrated the drivers side rear mirror causing the fluid inside that is responsible for the auto dimming to turn dark brown (like used engine oil). The level dropped and now the mirrir looks like a 1/2 full glass of engine oil. At the same time, the interior rear view mirror became the same way.
I am trying to find an econimical way to repair / replace these components while maintaining the same auto dimming functionality. EBAY / use parts location have options, but I want to be sure it is something I can take apart / replace and put back todgether before I drop a couple hundred dollors.
