1987 Mercedes Benz 420sel Idle
Engine Mechanical problem
1987 Mercedes Benz 420sel Two Wheel Drive Automatic 70000 miles
My car sits in park and idles at 2000 rpms when I put it into gear it lunges into the gear and the rmp are automatically dropped down to under 1000. Also my car keeps dying like the battery keeps draining and I purchased a new battery a little over a year ago

Did you ever resolve your problems witht he idle and battery? We are having the exact same issues with our 1986 Mercedes Benz 420SEL... 140.000 miles.

CHECK OVER VOLTAGE RELAY FUSE IS RIGHT ON TOP FROM THE RELAY,IS BEHIND FIRE WALL IF IT IS OK CHECK TPS ,CHECK FOR LAST ET COULD BE IDLER MODULE GOOD LUCK
