1997 Mercedes Benz 320e Accessing headlight bulb (right)

1997 Mercedes Benz 320e 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 170000 miles
Am trying to replace headlight bulb on right...removed the air filter cover and unclipped the retaining clips...cannot slide the plastic cover out to get to lamp assembly...tried to pull out the bottom of air filter box out without success...what do you suggest...thank you
