1979 Mercedes Benz 300td Rear Bearing Replacement

What is the normal process for replacing the rear wheel bearings?

I have never seen a rear axle bearing go out in a Mercedes, are you sure you've diagnosed correctly? at any rate, to remove the rear axle bearings, you will have to remove the axle itself, once you have done that, there is 4 bolts on the lower control arm, once you have removed those the assembly with the bearings should come out.
