1987 Mercedes Benz 300sd headlamp replacement

I can't seem to figure out how to get the existing element out of its socket, so as to replace the new element.

try twisting it counterclockwise, if you are standing in front of the headlight, it only turns a 1/4 of a turn, then pull it out.
