Engine Performance problem 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 147k miles

1988 Mercedes Benz 300E - 3.0L Gasoline F.I. 145Miles Engine starts perfect, drives perfect. After 5 minutes, engine begins stall at idle speed only.

Eventually engine will stall and become nearly impossible to restart.
Use of accelerator pedal will maintain higher RPMs to keep engine running.
After approximately hour of downtime, engine will restart and the cycle begins again.

No components have been replaced for this issue. Just plenty of resetting. Considering Coolant Temp. Sensor replacement

Please help I love this site!
