1988 Mercedes Benz 300e sensor light

1988 Mercedes Benz 300e 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 145000 miles
i jus bought a 88 mercedes 300e and is running smooth. the only thing that concerns me is a light went off on my gauge and its a picture of a square with less than half of wavy lines inside. i have put in antifreeze and oil but still the light kept going off.
