Fuel pump
Engine Performance problem
1984 Mercedes Benz 300d Two Wheel Drive Automatic 160K miles
Engine will turn over, but will not start.
Fuel not getting to fuel pump.
Clear fuel filter between tank and fuel pump replaced and fuel getting to this filter but it not reaching the fuel pump.
2nd fuel filter changed also, but inadventently did not prime at the time of change.
Could the fuel pump have failed or could not priming the 2nd filter cause air in the lines?

HI there,
The hand primer should lift the fuel and bleed all the air out with out a problem, these primers do fail and if you cant feel some pressure on the primer the internal seal is probably worn, you can replace the primer assembly on the pump fairly easily, also check that all filter and line are tight as if not air will enter and ensure tank is at least 1/4 full or this can also inhibit priming with a worn pump.
