Was given car by elderly lady. Car had been sitting up for 2 years. Jumped battery then drove car home about 13 miles. Car ran fine. Put in new plugs and wires and replaced brake pads. Changed oil and filter. Took car to gas station and put in half a tank. Not very long after that car started to miss and had to keep foot on gas at stop sign. Car began to put out white smoke. Still starts but idles really rough and smokes. Any ideas?

White smoke is an indication of a blown headgasket. Check your dipstick and look for a milky color in your oil or an oil presence in your coolant. These are some ways to check for a blown head gasket. As for the misses I would recommend replacing the fuel filter as well since this vehicle has sat for so long. Keep in mind that if fuel was left in the tank you may need to replace the fuel pump as well.
