I have been doing the exact same thing. My car sat for a couple of years, and now I can get it to run with a little starter fluid for about 3 seconds. Please reply.

God jesus don't touch the mixture screws! THESE SCREWS NEVER need to be moved! Do you have the MAF sensor connected? Is the main air tube on the engine. If it not on or the sensor is faulty. This is what it might do.

If you have to ask. Take it to someone who knows. Messing around with a rotary can cost you alot of money in a hurry

I have done some work on it and it does run better than when I got it, but it still has problems. I have the haynes workshop manual, it is what said to adjust the screws. It doesnt have anything that mentions tha MAF sencor. I havent taken it to a mazda tech yet because I cant afford one. If you can imform me what the maf sencor is, I may beable to fin out how to take care of it, or find out how in the manual.

The problem I am having is that as I am driving it, or letting it warm up, it runs fine for a bit, but then it dies, as if it is out of gas. I know its not the spark plugs, or fuel filter, or pump, since they are all new, and running well. I have tried touble shooting it as best I can, and I am now seeking help from someone that knows more than just whats in some stupid workshop manual. But I cant afford to take it to a shop. I appreciate all of your input.

From eric just got done with this problem to my engine. Ran fine until I open the throtle then it would die. The floats are made out of plastic and will deteroate over time also the little valve tends to stick so replace it. Bap or foreigen auto parts store sells rebuild kits but make sure you mark where the orfices go they are two colors silver for secondaries and brass for primary clean all ports and orfices. Clean around the butterfly valves at the bottem lube them and make sure open easly and don't stick. I also found stuff in the metal fuel lines on top of the carb those lines have screans in them to so check to see if there not pluged. Good luck
