While driving home from work, a strong rubber burning smell became evident inside the car. The radio began to fluctate. It was raining and I had the wipers on, they started to act in an irratic fashion. The spedomator also was irratic. I made it home and turned off the engine right away. Now the car doesn't start. There is no attempt by the engine to tun over, however, the radio still works.

Can you help please?

Hi Marion,

Seems you have a problem with the alternator which could be not charging due to belting or alternator faults.

The battery has been drained and is not strong enough to start the vehicle.

Check the beltings and pulleys for problems such as seized pulleys etc.

A jump start would be required. If the battery is weak, don't worry about for now, it will be recharged once the charging system is restored.

Thank you so much for your quick response to my inquiry! My son took the car to a mechanic and had the alternator and the belt replaced. The car is working great now.

Thanks again, it's good to know that there are people out there who care.
