87 626 150,000: NO ELEC EXCEPT HEADLIGHTS
1987 Mazda Other
Our lights were left on, the car was jumped, recharged by leaving cables attached for awhile. Headlights became bright, and it was discovered that there was no response to turning on the key. None of the ignition switch circuit dependent things work: no radio, wipers, heater fan, etc. In addition neither the dome light nor the trunklight go on, which were working before. No power is getting anywhere except the headlights. There was no unusual incident noticed before the problem other than the lights being left on. The ignition switch used to occasionally miss contact months ago; no incidents lately, and this did not affect other functions, just the starter. Removed battery and cleaned area and posts and cables. No change. What gives? Thanks for any response.
