I recently had a problem with my passenger side electric window. I put it down from the drivers side control and it wouldn't go back up. I disassembled the door with help from a friend. We have verified that the electric window motor works. As in we had it outside the door dangling by the wires and the gear turns when the switch is depressed for the down window direction. However when we depressed for the up direction it does nothing. This was the passenger side switch and we also tried the drivers control with the same results. Not knowing what exactly made window return up. The motor turning in the opposite direction via polarity change from switch or something else. We were stumped. Is this an electrical switch or wire problem. Or is it remedied by buying a new motor.
Again. Not understanding what exactly makes the window go back up. Something in the motor assembly with polarity or the switch itself.
This window was working perfectly until recently.
Thanks in advance.

Youre exactly right, ground and power swich to turn it the opposite direction. Use a test light to verify this is happening from the switch to the motor.
