Removing the axles from the transaxle

Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
1995 Mazda MX6 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 99000 miles

I need to know how to remove the axles from the transaxle. I have removed the strut bolts. I read that you don't have to remove the hub bolt or ball joint, that you can pull it out and swing it out of the way. But someone said that there is a C clip on the axle. If this is true, is that inside the transaxle? And if so do I have to pry the axle out and thereby breaking the C clip off? and if so how do you replace that when reinstalling? Is there any other bolts that I have to remove? I don't see anything but someone said that I have to remove the steering knuckle bolts... where or what are those?

Thanks
