Hello -

Mazda MX3 1992 1800 6cyl

Starts up Ok and idles great. Once I press the acc pedal it misses steadily as if a plug is not firing, or wire is shorting. When the car warms up it gets worse, won't even rev up sometimes. But still idles fine.

Replaced the following:

NEW distributor
new plugs
new wire set
cap and rotor OK

Thanks for your assistance!

Hi caliwash and TY for the donation

Check and test the following

Oxygen sensor
Catalytic converter
Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

Dirty or worn spark plugs
Bad plug wires
Weak ignition coil
Wet plug wires

Hi -

Yes, it does sound like a misfire. You mentioned ignition coil - where is the coil on this car?

Thanks

The coil is integral with the distributor though its new could be weak check the primary and secondary winding resistances. If okay check the rest I've mentioned
