1992 Mazda Miata Related mechanical problems.

My car wouldn't start, so I had it towed to a repair shop. They said it needed a new fuel pump, strainer and filter. Then they called and said it needed a timing belt, then called again and said it wasn't that, it need an ignition coil, then they called and said it needed an ignitor. It started out at $500, not is at 1,200. Is that all related repairs, am I being taken to the cleaners

Hi
You have been washed, dried, pressed and hung out.
They have guessed there way through the only thing even remotely related is coil and igniter. So igniter was it? Car runs now? If yes then they need to go back to making pizza.
They got a lot of splain' to do

So, what are my options. Do I have them take everything off they replaced and take my car somewhere else or is that an option. I checked their BBB report and they have 4 complaints that they never responded to, which where miss diagnosis and not getting repairs done on a timely basis. I never signed anything. I had the car towed there and everything was done via phone. I have never met them or been at their place of business. Can they keep my car for ransom? Can I demand my car back? Please help!

Check your state attorny office see what law says about no signature. Also what was original estimate of repairs? Court will allow only 10% increase so that maybe your out. Surley ignitor was problem so agree to pay for that and parts only at cost for the rest. If no go call State Patrol they will get car released and then it will go to court. You stand good chance to win they know it especialy with 4 BBB complaints. And wiill agree to your terms.
