When I fill the tank full, the gauge only shows three quarters of a tank. Could this be a constant voltage regulator, and how do I locate it?

Probably faulty sending unit in tank. Will need to disconnect sending unit connector and test with ohmmeter. If tank is half full than ohm should be 29 - 37. Almost empty it should be 103-117. Almost full should be 1-5. If any reading is wrong than sending unit needs replaced.
