JUST BOUGHT THE TRUCK AND CHANGED THE OIL AND FILTER, OF COURSE I DID NOT GET AS MUCH OUT AS I PUT IN BUT ANYHOW NOW IT SMOKED QUITE BADLY AND TAPERED OFF, AFTER TURNING OFF AND RESTARTING IT SEEMED LIKE IT IS OK NOW. I DID NOT OVERFILL ALS A LITTLE BIT OF WATER DRIPPED OUT OF TAIL PIPE AND ALSO WENT AWAY. I'M GUESSING HEAD GASKET

Worn rings would be my first thought.

Does it tend to smoke on the first start up?

A little moisture coming out the tail is not abnormal. In the cooler climates and short driving distances it is normal. Not sure of your climate.
