Truck has been missing, changed plugs cap rotor wires, Went to change oil and filter, drained the oil, It came out very thin and smelled like gasoline, right before I did this the dipstick showed overfull but the oil light came on. What could be causing this?

Same thing happened to me with my 88 pickup. I found out that the rings were burnt up. Light could have come on because of the thin oil/gas mix and not being able to build enough pressure. My bet would be replacing the rings and possibly crank and rod bearings.
