1990 Mazda 626 engine dies while running
Engine Performance problem
1990 Mazda 626 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic
My car engine dies at a stop light and running down the highway. I do not know what is wrong. Someone suggested replacing the fuel filter, did that and it will not start. There is fuel in the filter but none is getting to the engine.

Check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel pump and also check if the injectors are pulsing

How do you check the fuel pressure? And how do you do the second thing? When my car was running and started to die, I would have to pump the gas pedal to keep it going, pump it a lot!

You hook up the fuel pressure gauge on the test port at the fuel rail that looks like a tire valve and for the injectrors listen to it if its clicking, also check the idlle air control valve and throttle position sensor.
