1994 lincoln town car 4.6engine 80,000 miles
runs erratically for about 1mile after initial cold start
clears up for remainder of day. Only code points to
manual lever position switch. Can this be cause of
symptom?
since last post I have cleaned terminals on manual lever
sensor and got a 1111 code meaning I fixed the corroded switch contacts, but I still have same problem.
I have replaced engine temp sensor, plug wires, plugs,
fuel filter, tested egr valve, cleaned egr port, tested,
cleaned and retested MAF[tested fine before and after]
I searched extensively for possible vacuum leaks. I don't
get error codes at all now, but the problem remains.
one reply mentioned engine temp sensor but it tested
fine before and after replacement. I appreciate the tip.
this ones really stumping me big time. Anyone seen
this before HEEELLLPP !

Can you post the code? Normally it would be the coolant temp sensor, the computer runs the car in a rich mode till it warms up. This info is recieved from the temp sensor.

Code 1111 is air intake temp.
On a 94 it is in the plastic top of air cleaner lid IIRC.
Small sensor and cheap/ easy to replace. Get a new one and see if it fixes your cold start.

Actually 1111 is not a valid code. Air intake temp sensor is a code 112.I am thinking he's got 11 11 system pass.
