This car was parked for about 1 1/2 years. The battery had been installed and removed a few times.
Now it's back on the road, but the electronic message center doesn't illuminate, the warning chimes sound very weak. The speedometer and fuel gauge works, but the the EMC. Any suggestions?

I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH A 1980 MARK VI. THE MESSAGE CENTER WOULD KEEP GOING BLANK EVERY FEW DAYS. I WOULD GET WARNING CHIMES BUT NOTHING SHOWED ON THE SCREEN. I HAD PUT IN A NEW MESSAGE CENTER DISPLAY MODULE IN THE DASH, BUT SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD SUGGEST REPLACING THE MESSAGE CENTER LOGIC MODULE.

I JUST BOUGHT AN '84 WITH COMPUTER DASH. EVEN BEFORE I GOT IT, I WENT TO THE JUNKYARD AND GOT A SPARE DIGITAL DASH AND LOGIC MODULE. I WILL GET A FEW MORE. THE MODULE IS NOT THAT HARD TO GET OUT. GO IN THE CAR FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THEN GO UPSIDE DOWN UNDER THE DASH. THE MODULE IS LOCATED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE STEERING COLUMN. IT HAS TWO LARGE CONNECTORS TO GET OFF. THERE ARE ABOUT 6 SMALL HEX SCREWS TO REMOVE. USE A NUT DRIVER. LET ME KNOW HOW YOU DO.
