1983 Lincoln Mark VI Repair Question

Gas in the oil ??
Engine Mechanical problem
1983 Lincoln Mark VI V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 123.00 miles
I checked the oil and found it well over full, I drained it and found gas in it,?? the car is not used as I am redoing it, I do not know why I checked the oil but happy I did, can anyone tell me how it could have got in the oil, and is it a big job to fix it?? Thank You so much , Have A Grate Day.
