2002 Lincoln LS Repair Question

Power window broken
2002 Lincoln LS V8 All Wheel Drive Automatic 75,000 miles
My driver's side window made some groaning noises and worked very slowly for a couple of days. It is now down and won't go back up. I called the Lincoln dealership and asked them for an estimate to fix it. They suspect it is the regulator and the quote for repair is $500.00. I just spent $1500.00 on this car and can't afford that kind of repair right now. Any suggestions as to where/how I might go to get it fixed for less?
BTW...I am a woman...and they LOVE to take advantage of us at auto repair places.
