1998 Lincoln Continental with 84000 miles. My turn signals quit working so I replaced the switch. They worked for a day and again quit. I now have no turn signals or brake lights and the car will not shift out of park. What is causing the turn signal switch to fail and is it related to stick in park?
Thanks

I would suspect the brake light switch. If the brake light switch fails the shifter wont come out of park. For a temporary fix turn key to the on position then shift car into neutral then start engine. Use this for temporary fix. Hope this helps

Unfortunately that is something a little too involved for me to fix over the internet. You could have a short somewhere in the wiring that is burning them out but you should be blowing fuses.

That should solve half of my problem. I will install a new brake switch tomorrow and see how it goes from there.
Thank you for your help.

I replaced the brake switch this morning and it still will not come out of park and there are no brake lights. Any suggestions before I take it to the dealer?
Thanks,
Larry
