I recently bought a lincoln continental 2-door, all that was needed was a battery and it started as fast as a brand new car, but now I have a liquid leaking out of the exhaust, the car runs great but the coolant is dissapearing. I was told it is PROBABLY the head gasket but where I live its hard to get a mechanic who knows the car very well. I am afraid to run the car because I dont want water in my oil.

Easy way to check for cracked head gasket is remove radiator cap (WHEN COLD) then start engine. Rev engine up just a bit and if coolant comes shooting out of radiator cap opening then most likely gasket is bad.
