1996 Lexus SC 300 ok when cold - after warmup no reverse &a
Transmission problem
1996 Lexus SC 300 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 210000 miles
Pulled out valve body to do complete drain. Top & bottom valve body gaskets were shot. Opened up valve body to replace gaskets. Used a diagram for a 1990 Supra A340E transmission as a guide (rubber balls, springs, etc.). Put all back together - works ok when cold, however, after warm-up to operating temp, major slip in reverse and no upshift from 1st to 2nd, etc. Disconnected shift & lockup solenoids for manual shift testing - same problem. Removed valve body & shot compressed air thru ports to check operation of reverse, 1st, 2nd, 3rd & o/d - all appeared to work as they should. So what is up - valve body? Why ok when cold but not when warm?
