2001 Lexus RX300 seemed to be running fine, then made a "squeeling noise" at start-up, which went away after 5 mins of driving. After 2 weeks of the start-up noise, the transmission went totally out, and the car would not go into any gear - although the gear shifter did move up and down. How much should a typical rebuilt transmission cost? Should I have it re-built? Or look for a used transmission to replace the old one? Cost for rebuilding? And cost for replacing with a used trans?
thank you

Have the vehicle looked at by a good transmission shop. It may be just an electrical fault which cna be easily remedied. Or they can plug the vehicle into a diagnstic scanner to locate the cause of the fault and better quote repair costs
