BRAKING SYSTEM (ROTORS)

I have a 2005 LEXUS RX330 with 23,000lbs miles and just had to have the rotors turned on the braking system. I was told by the dealer that this was normal and could expect to have this done every 20-23,000lbs. Is this true?

No that is not correct. First of all the rotors aren't designed to be turned because they are made of composite material with about 15 thousands of hard material. If you turn below that amount you run into softer material Then the 20K figure is about right.

I have replaced front pads on a Lexus with over 100K on the rotors and they didn't need turning. The rule on thet kind of car is to replace the front pads every 25 to 30K and the rotors will never be damaged. I hope I have answered your questions. Good Luck
